My 4-Day Escape to Sindhudurg: Beaches, Seafood, Sunrises & A Much-Needed Breath of Life

Hi, I’m Sanjana — a 26-year-old corporate girl working in an MNC, living in the crowded (and biryani-heaven) city of Hyderabad.
I love my job, but sometimes… you just crave a break.
Not malls, not pubs — but mountains, beaches, silence, nature.
And Hyderabad has everything except a beach.
So for a long weekend in October, I finally listened to my heart — and booked a 4-day escape to Sindhudurg.

And honestly?
This trip healed me more than I expected.

Day 1: Hyderabad → Sindhudurg → My Beachfront Heaven

I took the Fly91 mini flight at 8:30 AM, Hyderabad to Sindhudurg.
Since it was Diwali season, we somehow managed to get tickets for ₹2,000 each (non-season price).

By 10:30 AM, we landed.
The air smelled different — salty, fresh, free.

🌊 Staying at Wairy Bhootnath Beach

We headed straight to the Tarkarli–Wairy Bhootnath Beach area (23 km from the airport) and checked into a beachfront stay.

And when I say “beachfront,” I mean less than 100 meters from the waves.
I could literally hear the sea breathing from my room.
The stay cost us ₹5,000 for 3 nights — and felt priceless.

🍽️ First Malvani Meal

I started the trip with a proper Malvani feast:

• Pomfret Thali

• Amboli Misal

• Sol Kadhi (can't skip this!)

Total bill: ₹700
Taste: heavenly.

After a small rest, we walked to “our” beach around 5 PM — the first sunset, soft waves, seashells everywhere…
I knew instantly: this place is going to stay with me forever.

Dinner was a comforting Bangda Thali + Sol Kadhi (₹400).
And we slept like babies.

Day 2: Sunrises, Fishermen, Sindhudurg Fort & The Best Seafood Ever

I woke up at 6 AM to the sound of the sea — and something else.
When I stepped out, I saw fishermen (whom I started calling “fish uncles”) pulling out nets, sorting fish, shouting names of species I had never heard of.
It felt like watching a documentary live.

🛵 Scooty Rental

We rented a scooty for ₹450 per day (took it for 2 days).

🏰 Sindhudurg Fort

Distance: 7 km
We parked, grabbed hats, and bought the entry + boat ticket (₹100 per person).
The best part — the price includes a small ferry ride to the island.

Inside the fort, I saw Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s hand and footprints.
A moment I’ll never forget.
But the sun was sharp, so we left by noon.

🦀 Lunch at Athithi Bamboo

I HAVE to highlight this place.
We ordered:

• Khekda Thali (2 massive Crab Curry + Bhakri + Rice + Mini Sol Kadhi)

• Surmai Thali (Fry + Curry + Bhakri + Rice + Mini Sol Kadhi)

• And yes, Sol Kadhi

Bill: ₹1,000
This was hands-down the best seafood meal of my life.

We returned to the room (4.3 km) and rested before heading to Devbagh.

🚤 Devbagh – The boat ride of dreams

Distance: 15–20 km

We took a private boat (₹1,200) covering:

• Sangam Point

• Tsunami Island

• Crocodile Point

• Mini Kerala Point

• Seagul Point

Clear water, mangroves, birds… pure magic.

Dinner was at the same Athithi Bamboo — this time, Tisaryachi Thali + more fish varieties (₹1,000).

We slept full, happy, and sol kadhi-burping 😄

Day 3: Beaches, Photos, Rock Garden & Narkasur Dahan

Day 3 was slow, sweet, sunny.

• Random beautiful spots

Perfect for photos.

🌿 Rock Garden

Entry: ₹10
The beach view from this garden is mesmerizing — waves crashing against black rocks, salty breeze, families picnicking… everything felt cinematic.

🪔 Narkasur Dahan

We visited Malvan Beach in the evening and witnessed Narkasur Dahan — giant effigies, drums, firecrackers, cheers… it felt like we just walked inside a festival.

Later, we returned to “our beach” — and by Day 3, we were emotionally attached to it.
We played in the water, watched small fish, collected shells.

Dinner: a full whole fish meal with (obviously) Sol Kadhi (₹600).

Day 4: One Last Sunrise & Back to Hyderabad

We woke up at 5 AM because I didn’t want to leave without watching the fishermen again.
More crabs, prawns, nets, laughter, shouts — I soaked in every second.

We left for the airport by auto (₹600) and boarded the 8:40 AM Fly91 flight, reaching Hyderabad by 10:30 AM.

I even went to the office at 1 PM, still smelling faintly of sea breeze.

Return flight cost: ₹2,300

Sindhudurg wasn’t just a trip — it was a breather I didn’t know I desperately needed.

I went looking for a small getaway.
I came back with:

• calmness

• gratitude

• a heart full of sunsets

• pockets full of seashells

• and a strong wish to return again
