The country covers 241,038 square kilometres, holds roughly 46 million people, and protects three UNESCO sites including Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (inscribed 1994, 321 square kilometres, around 459 mountain gorillas which is roughly half of the global population of 1,063 counted in the 2018 census).
