Loktak Lake holds the only floating national park on earth, and Keibul Lamjao protects about 250 surviving Sangai deer (Cervus eldii eldii), a critically endangered subspecies found nowhere else. Imphal added Kangla Fort, the ancient Meitei capital, and a short drive into Nagaland brought me to Kohima War Cemetery where the 1944 Battle of Kohima turned the WWII Burma campaign.
