The first thing I tell every one of them: this city isn't Jaipur. So it's not Udaipur. There's no fort on a hill, no palace lit up at night. Chennai is a coastal Tamil capital where the real attractions are food, temples, Carnatic music, beach culture, and the slow rhythm of Mylapore mornings. Two or three days is the right dose, and you should pair it with Mahabalipuram and maybe an ECR drive toward Pondicherry. TL;DR: 2-3 days is the sweet spot. Top three sights are Kapaleeshwarar Temple in Mylapore, San Thome Basilica with a Marina Beach sunrise walk, and the Government Museum complex in Egmore.
